Habitat 69 - Spring 2023

2 Spring is always a special time at the Detroit Zoological Society (DZS). This year, we are ringing in the season by celebrating all things green! We’ve always been dedicated to living out our sustainability mission, but we are taking things to the next level this spring. As you will read in this edition of Habitat , we are honoring our commitment to the environment by launching new recycling initiatives, hosting eco-friendly events and much more. I believe it is incredibly important for zoos and aquariums to promote sustainability practices that protect their community environment and animal habitats across the globe. Over the years, the DZS has championed many eco-friendly initiatives, and I can’t wait to present them in new and exciting ways to our guests over the upcoming season. From the blooming flowers outside the Belle Isle Nature Center to the lush habitats at the Detroit Zoo, springtime is when the DZS comes alive, so I hope you will visit us and help us celebrate keeping our planet green.
