detroitzoo.org/events/upcoming-events � zoo event s detroitzoo.org • HABITAT | 15 Make Wild Lights Your Holiday Tradition Take a walk on the wild side this holiday season during the Detroit Zoo’s annual spectacular light display, Wild Lights , presented by Strategic Staffing Solutions. For 24 nights, beginning November 17, more than five million LED lights will illuminate trees, buildings and 265 sculptures – more than 220 of which are animals – throughout the front half of the Zoo. This year, the excitement begins in “Africa” as you pass through the entrance gates, where light sculptures of lions, giraffes and elephants await. Experience the magic of the Detroit Zoo in winter as you take in the lights and the sights and enjoy holiday entertainment and special activities for guests of all ages. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition in the Ford Education Center, showcasing some of the world’s most spectacular photography, is included with admission. Tickets are now available. Tickets sold in advance (either online or on site at Customer Care during daytime Detroit Zoo hours) range from $11 to $17 throughout the 24-night run of the event. Walk-up tickets sold at the gate for all nights and time slots will be $17. We recommend guests always check the online web store for the best price available as the gates will always have the highest price. Parking is $8 per car for Members and non-members. The “Polar Express 4-D Experience” will be showing in the Wild Adventure Zone’s 4-D Theater for $5 with Wild Lights admission. You can also take a spin on the Winter Rink or the Carousel for an additional cost. On select nights, enjoy ice carving demonstrations, listen to choirs perform, write Letters to Santa and take part in Scientist Sundays. New this year: Buddy’s Pizza will be open every night of Wild Lights , including the rooftop terrace – weather permitting – which provides a great vantage point from which to see the lights. Please note, the Polk Penguin Conservation Center will not be open for this event. Wild Lights will be held November 17-18, 23-25 and 30, and December 1-2, 7-9, 14-16, 20-23 and 26-31 .
