WHAT DOES EACH LEVEL MEAN? Aerie Member celebrates 5-9 years of membership. What does aerie mean? Aeries are nests that eagles create, maintain and return to year after year. We are happy you’ve found a home with us and hope your support continues. Troop Member celebrates 10-19 years of membership. Why troop? A troop refers to a group of primates, which are highly social animals, living together and protecting one another. We value your commitment to our community. Pride Member celebrates 20+ years of membership. Why do we call it a pride member? A pride refers to a group of lions, which many cultures depict as being strong and noble. Hold your head high, for your support continues to strengthen our mission. Members with more than five years of membership in the Detroit Zoological Society will be easier to recognize.
