Internationally renowned architectural firm Albert Kahn Associates was inadvertently excluded from the story that appeared in the last issue of Habitat on the Polk Penguin Conservation Center. The Detroit firm is playing a key role as architect/engineer of record and architectural design lead for the exterior of the building, working in collaboration with Jones & Jones, who is responsible for the exhibit and animal husbandry space design. The Kahn firm is no stranger to the Detroit Zoo, having served as architects of the Ruth Roby Glancy Animal Health Complex, which opened in 2005, and recently designing renovations for the Japanese macaque and great apes habitats.
